Performance and Recovery Massage for Athletes
We offer a range of specialized physiotherapy services designed to enhance pain management and address various conditions effectively.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage is a specialized form of therapeutic massage tailored to assist athletes in preparing for and recovering from physically demanding activities. It often incorporates techniques like deep tissue massage, stretching, and range-of-motion exercises to enhance performance, prevent injuries, and accelerate recovery.
This type of massage is beneficial for both professional and recreational athletes, helping to alleviate pain and discomfort resulting from overuse or injury. It is frequently used alongside other therapeutic and rehabilitation methods to optimize overall athletic performance and well-being.

How can Sports Massage Help?
Sports massage therapy services are designed to restore balance in your body and alleviate aches and strains caused by repetitive strain injuries or related issues.
In addition to addressing sports-related injuries, sports physiotherapy helps patients build the strength and flexibility needed for enhanced athletic performance
Outcome-based Sports Massage
Sports massages are focused on achieving specific outcomes by assessing and treating musculoskeletal dysfunction.
During your initial appointment, our therapists will evaluate your current health, medical history, and lifestyle habits. This targeted approach allows the therapist to address your specific problem areas rather than providing a full-body massage.
Sports Performance and Recovery
Sports massage aids in faster recovery post-workout and enhances performance during races.
It promotes blood circulation and lymphatic flow, helping to break down adhesions or muscle knots, which allows for greater flexibility and range of motion.
Faster Recovery
Blood circulation is essential for complete recovery, playing a key role in long-term injury prevention.
Although our sports massage therapists have received extra training and have experience with specific injuries, their primary focus is not on rehabilitation.
Injury Rehabilitation
Remedial massage promotes the relief of existing stiffness and tension while aiding in tissue repair throughout the body.
If you’re experiencing musculoskeletal dysfunction, it’s crucial to consult a qualified physiotherapist for an assessment before proceeding with Sports Massage Therapy.
Aches and Strains
Muscle tension, stress, and fatigue can impact everyone, whether you’re a competitive athlete, a busy homemaker, or a stressed executive.
Many of our clients describe the sensation of their knots being “ironed out” after a massage.

Frequently Asked Questions

When Should I Get A Sports Massage?
The frequency of massages can vary widely based on individual needs and training intensity. While high-level competitive athletes may receive a massage daily to aid recovery from intense sessions, many others find that 1-2 massages per week suits their needs effectively. It ultimately depends on how prone your muscles are to tightness and the demands of your training regimen.
Should I get one before an event?
Yes, you can have a massage before your event, but it’s important to inform your massage therapist. This way, they can avoid an overly intense massage, which might overly relax your muscles and hinder their recruitment during the event, leading to decreased power and slower muscle response. A full deep sports massage is appropriate about 48 hours prior to your event. However, a pre-event massage—typically done about an hour before—should be lighter, focusing on limbering up the muscles rather than relaxing them as in a typical sports massage session.
